Job Description

The role:

Global Talent 2020 is proudly working with one of Lothian’s leading private Event specialists clients, who due to their success, even in current climes, is growing and looking to add a talented, passionate Head Chef to their bespoke business. Our client has been established for many years and has a quality standing in the Scottish marketplace.

The role is based at a production kitchen base, and then out at venues supporting the delivery and service of the food at each event. The Head Chef is to lead the quality-focused food operations. Every event is bespoke, and the food service is individually tailored to the end customers’ needs. You will lead a close small dedicated Kitchen brigade, with additional staffing brought in on the days of Events. You will behave creative input in producing high levels of innovative, classical food, to one/two rosette level, for this quality-focused business.

The role also offers to work 5 days a week mainly 08:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday and Tuesdays off, working with the best sourced, fresh, seasonal produce. The Owners are also very flexible in additional time off for additional hours worked in a week, so in peak months, a working week could realistically be 4 days a week. Weekends off are also fairly rostered. 

The person:

Our passionate foodie client at Global Talent 2020, is looking for an experienced Head Chef talent. Someone who is approachable, client-facing, possesses a positive out-going personality, a “can-do” mentality, and drives a close-knit team.

The ideal Head Chef candidate must have had prior experience of working in a Events led Kitchen, specifically with Weddings, large social gatherings, and corporate events experience. You must be able to demonstrate good all-round culinary technical skills, whilst being willing to grow, train, and develop the brigade with this ambitious, expanding organisation, in making memorable food experiences for its customers.

Excellent costing understanding of dishes, is also a highly desired skill, as is the person’s ability to manage a Kitchen and ensure it is compliant, safe, and hygienic with all its practices. 

All Chef applicants will need to be able to demonstrate their technical abilities at the interview stages.
